On May 8,2012 Me and my class took a trip within our school jurisdiction or atmosphere to Learn more about Lithography stone, 4 color dots which are consisted within the components and offset printing . On May 8th I and my class got a better understanding that Lithography is form of printing using a stone preferably Lithographic stone or a metal plate with a completely smooth surface or outer layer which is created .A historic invention like this furthermore extravagant creation was created by Alois Senefelder .As a cheap method theatrical works that can be used as well as to print or text artwork on to paper that is suitable material .In the mist of learning about lithography it was noted that lithography normally works well with a original image due to the fact it runs  smoothly because it was etched into a coating of wax or oily substance before applied or imprinted to a blank sheet of paper. Moving along to the next we began discussing the 4 color dots and it different shapes and sizes.4 color dots is more of a process that is used specifically if not mainly to produce a full color  of graphic materials within a photograph. The ‘’4’’ refers to the number and types of inked used cyan, magenta, yellow and  black. All these colors refers to a special printing technique that recreates but yet shows full differentiate of visible  colors in a graphic or photogenic form. To conclude the class and myself concluded this field trip by walking around the classroom looking at offset printing  and documents  and photos that were coated, uncoated ,varnished and varnished. I and my class as a unit learned that  offset printing  is a commonly and prestige  use of printing .It form of technique is used mainly when the inked image is transferred  or offset from a plate to a rubber blanket .then to the printing surface. When offset printing is used I a combination with the lithographic process which Is confined or based on the repulsion of water and oil.The offset technique gains a image that leads to ink rollers to non printing area that attracts water. All pictures or videos of lithography and offset printing are posted above and around this post.

5 Great Moments in history of print?

1)1456- Gutenberg created movable type

2)1710- Three-color printing

3)1886- Linotype created

4)1871 -one half tone printing

5)1892 -4 color rotary

What is font???

Font is defined traditionally as a quantity of Sorts composing a complete character set of a single size and style of a particular bold or regular typeface.

For an example: Serif: Semi-structural details the ends of some of the strokes that make up letters and symbols.

San Serif: Does not have the extra detail on the Decorative components but the Larger sizes which have lots of serifs, used for posters.

1) Great Moments in History

  1. The early 1990’s the offset lithographic press was created.
  2. In the 1980’s Desktop publishing was created
  3. 1960 the internet started
  4. 1980 the World Wide Web was released
  5. Color

1) RGB: a color model is an additive color model in which red, green, and light is added together in various ways to reproduce a broad array of colors. Which comes from the initials of the 3 main or primary colors, red, green, and blue.

2) CMYK:  is a subtractive color model, used in color printing. CMYK stands for the four inks used: cyan, magenta, yellow, and black, which are the key.

Complimentary Colors: the pairs of colors that are of the opposite and or may standout or hue.

i.   Blue/orange

ii.  Red/green

iii. Yellow/purple

The divergent between  4 color printing and spot color is when a specific  Pantone color is used in a document, that When Spot color use, it allows a designer to strategically utilize color without the expense of running a job on a four-color press.

  1. What is an E-portfolio? E-Portfolio is designed as  a collection of electronic evidence created, assembled and managed by a user on the Internet.
  2. What are some components consisted or affiliated with e- portfolio

What is grain direction?

Grain direction is when Paper is made up of individual fibers (cotton, wood), which are held together, often by fillers, but sometimes just mechanically by being dried together as a group. Paper grain should be parallel with the binding edge.

  1. Making of paper: fibers in water are drained through a screen process, so that a mat of randomly interwoven fibers is laid down. Water is removed from this mat of fibers by pressing and drying to make paper.
  2. Process of binding: Saddle stitching-  Are Loop Stitching is a method of binding one or more printed sections together, with or without a cover moreover  Saddle stitched books are constructed with sheets that represent four pages of a book.

Side wire stitching digitally printed applications that are bound with side wire stitching are generally booklets or books that contain too many pages to be used as saddle stitched.

  1. Perfect binding – a popular method of binding books printed with digital technology that is perfect binding. Relatively inexpensive.

Vilo -Bind-  is known and define as a Trademarked design  that include Security strips which are used for the binding of pages and it is most often used for legal documents and publications.

  1. Explain:
    1. Prepress: processes and procedures that occur between the creation of a print layout and the final printing.
    2. Halftones: continuous  imagery through the use of dots, varying either in size, in shape or in spacing.
    3. Halftone dot:  uses a high frequency/low frequency dichotomy.
    4. Explain Prepress:  Image assembly, layout, scanning, file formats, programs used:
  1. Of  Files are first checked to ensure they are virus free
  2. Text and images are checked for proper placement
  3. Type fonts used in the file
  4. Photos are checked for proper resolution and placement
  5. PMS and process colors compared with the specifications
  6. Transparency and gradients are checked and flattened
  7. Digital color proofs are made
  8. Retouching of photographs for color balance and tone reproduction
  9. Special effects
  10. Image manipulation and assembly
  11. Electronic RIP and trapping
  12. Electronic page imposition
  13. Digital color proofing

Bonus:  The importance of Guttenberg’s Bible

Gutenberg’s invention did not make him rich, but it laid the foundation for the commercial mass production of books. The success of printing meant that books soon became cheaper, and ever-wider parts of the population could afford them. More than ever before, it enabled people to follow debates and take part in discussions of matters that concerned them. As a consequence, the printed book also led to more stringent attempts at censorship. This was a sign that it was felt by those in authority to be dangerous and challenging to their position.

Wired Article

In my mentation i believe the internet or WEB is still profound in today society or world oppose to being dead and nonexistent soon. Some believe it dying simply because we use applications in our phones which causes us the people to spend less time on the computer and less time on the web. As a result people tend to fade towards what popular at the time ,which may be using phone applications or use electronics that make downloading apps accessible or lastly refrain from using the web  WEB which will eventually lead to people to think the web will be extinct moreover dysfunctional. Both sides are interesting and luring.

First let’s start with the side that is saying it’s the people fault for the web being dysfunctional and dying down are pathetic and full of disblief simply because app’s and other mobile things help the WEB spread, I believe that the WEB is living as days pass and newer technology is brought out. The more technology and communication becomes advanced the more Information is easily through games, apps and possibly more. Through games you can interact, you can communicate, and you can have fun together. Which was one of the main points in the establishment of the WEB? Socialize moreover interact together without the need of actually being there with your friends, peers or family.

I disagree with the side who agree the internet is being controlled by the people controlling. I disagree because the WEB can’t never be silenced, there will always be ways of information to leak out and to spread to the public. If the debate contained more information that can be rationalize or understandable I would lean more towards it but it isn’t. This article also spoke of Yuri and how he owed 10% of facebook which is a social website that is known as one of the top interaction apps within the world. This website is existing proof on how well the web exist and profound it is still today .

I believe that the WEB will live on, unless dramatic changes start occur, such as death because the web or imperative worries which leads to drastic changes  I’ may be getting the wrong idea or picture. The WEB has evolved with time, and no longer the same as before. Giant computers, small portable laptops and phones are all new and current accessing electronics and form of the WEB. Apps isn’t taking over the WEB but it bettering and promoting the new form of WEB in its own way.

6 Lesson From History

According to the elements of graphic design there is 6 significant methods that is brought about to help technology ends meet to promote ,sell and continue to produce a product if all goes efficient .

Number 1 of 6 is technology and it tendency to converge from different directions to eventually meet and form a product. Technology is not  formed  and promoted itself, instead  technology  borrows from others. Technology  of the optics converge with technology of the emulsion to form technology of photography while the Technology of design has converged with  the technology of digital computers to form intergrated system which is one system that does all.All these form of method converge with the technology of the internet to create web enable printing.

Number 2 of 6 put emphasis on technology being considered evolutionary not revolutionary. As much as people want to believe in the revolutionary power of technology, technology advance more closely resembles evolution than revolution because new technology is developed in light of previous technologies . Usually, new technologies are simply a recombination of older technologies, Because new technology reflects previous technologies.Educators should carefully consider the past.  That is, in what ways do new technologies simply reflect past approaches to education and newer products of technology. Not all developed technologies are adopted on a wide scale.  What technologies are adopted is likely of greater consequence than what technologies are developed. As new ideas are more likely to be learned if they fit within existing mental frameworks

Number 3 of 6 put focus in technology taking the opportunity to expand  existing   markets and create new one’s..Technological creativity does not eliminate markets, instead it improves the ability to serve expand and exist markets while trying to provide opportunity and ability to develop new ones that are bigger, operate  better and  is stronger.

Number 4 of 6 put topicalization  on technology and it practical need to share a mutual attraction in order to keep things functional.Technology will always be enhanced with the thought to only get better, throughout it all, the goal is to use the newer product while keeping the original product traditional oppose to displace and dysfunctional.

Lesson Number  5 of 6 put emphasis in the technology being criticized for disrupting the norm of today  technology  when it really isn’t.History shows technology cannot be stopped .It can be postponed or slows down, but eventually it breaks through to satisfy human needs.

To conclude all ,lesson 6 of 6 is is about technology  ability to prosper through time and how it is a  must in regards to being benefit  to the people Simply because It is the people who create, control and use it in order to make it .
